First month or so, part one
So here we are. Haven't been using this space as much, working on getting an actual website up, though I like the idea of keeping this going, as a place to keep working through ideas, especially as we're not in the studio together in the middle of the week, at least until you realize tai chi is lame.
So these first five weeks have mostly been set-up and burping out ideas, getting used to working together, and seeing how we can combine the themes we've been working with, comics, piles, sealife/animal/nature processes and imagery, displays, natural disasters.
Below is one of the pieces that I think has been getting somewhere, though a little tortured. This one started from a 40x60inch drawing from when I was in Delaware, that was a little dark, just a straight-up pile silhouette. A pretty good surface to start with, then a process of adding and subtracting elements. The dancing cupcakes, though funny, didn't quite work...
There's a couple moves left (outlining the ribbon fish, something else to the blue bubbles?), and even if this one doesn't end up really good, somethings are worth reusing, including the juxtaposition of the perspective and space vs. the flat elements.
More images of recent work to come.
